Our work in 2025 & Beyond

The Milking Goat Association has several goals for their work in 2025 and beyond, key areas of focus include:

  • Funding and participating in sector-backed research and making this more accessible to our members.

  • Improving market opportunities for milk and meat in the UK and beyond

  • Strengthening our ties with professionals, producers, vets, academic researchers and all stakeholders

We’re supporting farmer-led projects, engaging most recently with Harper Adams University in their research entitled Wearable Sensor Technology for Dairy Goats. This is a project which the MGA feels could yield practical results, improving herd welfare in the future.

In 2024, the Milking Goat Association, in partnership with the Goat Veterinary Society, sponsored a Nuffield Farming Scholarship awarded to Yorkshire-based farm vet Laura Eden. Her study, titled ‘Exploring factors that contribute to improving the overall resilience of our dairy goats’ aims to enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and overall health of the UK dairy goat sector by learning from international best practice.

This joint sponsorship reflects our commitment to supporting evidence-based improvements in goat farming practice. We look forward to sharing Laura’s findings with members.
